SHOKK launches new dancemat contest

Children from across the UK are preparing to compete in the UK’s first Multiplayer National Dancemat Tournament.

The event, organized by SHOKK and partners Positive Gaming, will take place at The Zone in Huddersfield in May.

SHOKK says it promises to showcase some of Britain’s most talented youngsters and give beginners the chance to sample what the interactive craze is all about.

Teams have now started registering from all SHOKK facilities from across the country. There are two age categories: Junior - children aged 8 to 11 - and Senior – children aged 12 to 18 - plus prizes for best individual overall performance in each age group.

Kieran Murphy, Marketing Director of SHOKK, says: "The aim of the event is to raise the profile of Dancemats as a form of physical activity and to provide youngsters with an opportunity to showcase their talent in a competitive environment.

"Moving forward, the tournament will become an annual event and certainly has the opportunity to grow year on year as more and more children get involved in the activity."
